I’m an Australian who was born in a small country town in Beaudesert Queensland and grew up in the slightly larger, more touristy town of Cairns, Queensland. As a child, I was taught the necessity and rewards of hard work, mutual respect and community values. These lessons typically came with a story that had a traditional Australian flavor.
As I made my way through the business world, I carried these values and tried to live up to them as best I could (although I acknowledge somewhat imperfectly at times).
In my book I’ve tried to capture some of the more memorable and relevant Australian sayings that have been the basis of my approach to conducting myself and operating a commercial enterprise. During my career, I also discovered the necessity to slow down a little and enjoy life along the way – hence the drawing to the right.
